What to Expect
- Quiet and relaxed Old and New City
- Place of UNESCO World Heritage site, Sukhothai Historical Park, in Old City
- Lots of birds, did I say noisy? – particularly at sunrise and sunset
- Could easily be done in 1-2 days depending on when/how you prefer to travel

Activities
Sukhothai Historical Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

- Opens 6.30am till 7.30pm Sunday to Friday and Saturdays 6.30am till 9pm (apart from public holidays)
- 3 different sites to explore each with an individual entry fee of 100 baht each and 10 baht for bicycle.
- In my opinion, the best way to explore the old city is via a bicycle which can be hired from multiple shops for 30 baht each.
- Lots of temple ruins but they do become more of the same as you wander/cycle round.
- Lovely cycle to while away a few hours
- Some of the temples look to be partly reconstructed. Personally I think the beauty lies in the ruins themselves rather than its reconstruction.
- No strict dress code. You can wear shorts and vests if you wish.

Food
Pai Sukhothai Restaurant

- Cheap prices for drinks (50 baht for local rum excluding mixer & 80/90 baht for large beer) and food (our main meals cost between 90-120 baht)
- Plenty of choice
- Lovely little setting
- Pleasant and attentive staff
Poo Restaurant

- Don’t let the name put you off! ‘Poo’ means crab in thai 🦀
- Reasonable prices for the portions – Massaman cost 100 baht and the basil pasta cost 80 baht (rice is an additional cost of 20 baht)
- Extremely tasty Massaman Curry with a fine balance of flavours
- Tried the basil pasta however it was a little oily for me but still tasty
Transport

- Songkraew is the local bus (converted truck) costing 30 baht each between old and new city.
- Bus stops are a very short sign.

Accomodation: EZ House and Cafe
